happy halloween

They make a bit of a fuss in the stores, but not much actually happens 'round here on Halloween. I remember when I went trick-or-treating with my sister, Sarah, when I was about 9 or 10, and the first reply we got was, What's trick-or-treat? How sad!

Boo! Mason's mum bought chocolates to hand out to trick-or-treaters, but since Halloween isn't so big in Oz, we decided to scam the chocolates for ourselves. We distracted his mum and snuck out with bed sheets stuffed up our shirts, ran around to the front door, donned our 'costumes' and rang the doorbell. We could hear Mason's mum racing around inside preparing the treats, and even when she opened the door she didn't realise it was us!! She just thought we were two big kids. It was grrrrreat! trippin' out

DESPERATE HOUSEWIFE
IN TRAINING

Saturday was Jo's hens night... Woo hoo! The bridesmaids went to a lot of effort - we had matching shirts and shiny gold wigs, and lots of fun! We started at Cru Bar in the (Fortitude) Valley, then onto a nearby restaurant on James St for dinner, then to the snooty Fringe Bar where we just weren't diggin' the 'too cool for school' Valley crowd. We realised we were going to have trouble getting into Valley clubs with our matching outfits, so we headed to the city. There was a city-bound bus just down the street, so we raced over and Richard the Friendly Bus Driver took us all to the city for free! And what bus ride would be complete without some impromptu group singing. In keeping with the spirit of the night, we sang all our favourite love songs ~ I'm the one who wants to beeeeeee with you, Deep inside I hope you feeeeeeel it too (feeeeeeel it too)

We hung out at Chill Bar for a while, then boogied for a bit at Embassy, before most of the girls went to the Regatta to meet up with the bucks party.

Apparently our matching shirts and glittery wigs weren't trendy enough for the Valley, so we comandeered a bus into the city where they let EVERYONE in their nightclubs! The bus driver was super nice and just let us all on for free! Luckily there were no other passengers ~ they would've been in for 'the ride of their life', I'm sure ;)  Posted by Picasa

back to school

My first day at work was divided between whirlwind tours of the office; desperately trying to remember about 50 names; desperately trying to remember how to get from my desk to reception, and back (a MAZE, I tell you!) ~AND~ falling asleep at my computer trying to read a 71 page Project Definition Scope...

I'm feeling positive about my new workplace!

Things I rikey!:
  • a lounge with Foxtel
  • a water cooler right near my desk - keepin' healthy AND meetin' new people!

(saving the best for last...)

  • a SWIPE card to get through doors and use lifts!

Today I exhumed parts of my brain that DIED in Japan. It's good to be back!

the final countdown

Only 2 more weekdays of lazing and freedom until I join the working world next Monday! Excited but nervous ~ I just hope there's a good vibe and good people. I'll let you know how my first day at work goes!

While I'm happy to sleep-in everyday, I am getting kinda bored during the day. The most exciting thing I did this week was get a haircut ~ BANGS!
