High tea

I picked Mum up from the airport on Sunday night & we had dinner at a restaurant near our hotel in Shinjuku. It wasn't until reading through a Japanese guide book that we discovered our hotel was in Shinjuku's infamous red-light district, Kabuki-cho. But we didn't see anything at all scandalous - how boring!

Anyway, back to the tea... much to the amusement of fellow diners and waiters, we were fascinated! Our jasmine tea came in wine glasses and we had to wait for a 'bud' of tea to sink to the bottom then blossom like a flower in our cups before we drank it!
