the tale of a crappy saturday night

So what did you do on Saturday night? I went to an outdoor musical in the rainy season...

I was invited by a teacher, and it started raining just as she picked me up. It was to be postponed until Sunday in the case of rain, but she wanted to just go and check. The rain got harder and harder as we drove there, so once we got there we were both surprised to hear that the show would go on!

The play was about an 11th century historical figure, Murasaki, who apparently visited the town where the play was held. Soon this town is set to be merged with other surrounding towns (mine included) so this was a final celebration of the greatness of their stand-alone town before the merge. By the way, Murasaki is considered to be the world's first novelist with The Tale of Genji. There's a book about her called The Tale of Murasaki.
